The Network
Network a national young adult ministry newsletter
As 2008 is already rolling, I pray your young adult ministry is thriving. With our goal to enhance local young adult ministry, it is our desire to encourage District, Regional, and National conferences to continue the conversation of the importance of Young Adult Ministry. This year there are many great leadership events happening all across our country. You can view many of them on our website events section. If you know of an event currently not on our calendar, or if you are interested in hosting a leadership training event or even round-table discussion let us know.
Also in 2008, we are excited about the 2nd annual Christian Cruise. We will be running the Young Adult Cruise in conjunction with the Single Adult Cruise and many of the activities will be specifically for Young Adults. This amazing vacation package is enhanced by the spiritual elements of powerful preaching, insightful teaching, and great fellowship.

Resources. . .
The greatest young adult ministry resource you can ever obtain is already closer than you think. A Barna poll from 2004 indicates that young adults are 4 times as likely to consider themselves "leaders" than any other age demographic. At the same time they comprise only 4% of local church volunteer leadership. While statistics can be manipulated, the question remains: what am I doing to empower the young adults that surround me to be the "leaders" God has called them to be? If you are searching to advance your young adult ministry by empowering young adults:
-
Create a leadership team consisting of young adults.
-
Ask young adults what they think.
-
Give leadership opportunities to these "leaders."
-
Build the vision of the ministry around those willing to run with the ideas.
We are surrounded by talented people, and it's no new concept that the people we desire to facilitate ministry for, are themselves our greatest resource.

Jason Bowman, Young Adult Ministry Coordinator

ART: empowering the artistic among us
There is a growing and healthy trend that many are responding to with great results. All too often, artisitc gifts are less than encouraged when they fall outside of our corperate worship services. It's time the Church celebrate artists whose expresions surpass music and verbal communication. This year the well known Assemblies of God Youth Fine Arts festival launches an extension for Young Adults: Kappa Tau
Kappa Tau is a new discipleship tool of the national youth ministries of the Assemblies of God.
Through this Festival, college-aged participants are given the opportunity to continue developing their ministry gifts by having their entries evaluated by qualified professionals, teachers and ministers who encourage excellence and offer ideas for improvement.
